Employment Insurance is a bloody Joke

Find a post here. And Im totally agree with the title. I was apply for the EI from early February. And now still under review. I called, and they said, they find some error in the ROE. I need to talk with former employer, and ask them to do amend ROE. I lost my job, and I do not have the income. So I hope them could give my EI back. but, they said, no. for me Employment insurance is a joke. why do I need to pay the EI since so hard to get it if you need it.

The government ineptitude and bureaucratic bungling of this program as me in a steaming red rage.

I was laid off Nov 26th and filed an employment insurance claim the very next day, stupid thing wasn’t approved till this week. My application would’ve taken even longer had I not called in to clarify some confusion about the Records of Employments with no less than 4 agents over multiple calls and exhaustive hold times. The content of the calls was a rehash of information I already included in my application but it seems no one took the time to read.

One of the Records Of Employment was marked with a “quit” code (I had a legit reason for quitting). According to one of the agents  they are required to call into this employer and verify I quit – EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ALREADY WRITTEN IN THE R.O.E ISSUED BY THE EMPLOYER. This redundant and unnecessary step caused even further delays because of the holiday break (employer shuts down last week of Dec till Jan 4th). I would’ve had my MP intervene but the fucker was also on holiday break for an extended period (must be nice to have a cushy salary, pension and more time off than a teacher).

And another thing, after submitting an E.I. application online you’re directed to keep tabs on status by checking in online with your Service Canada account. .Each day I checked and was  given the generic “we’re working on it stay tuned” message but no hint about discrepancies requiring my intervention so I was effectively in the dark. Had I not called in my application would’ve remained in limbo for God knows how long.  Had I known about discrepancies I could’ve nipped them in the bud before the holiday break.

To make matters worse you can’t connect with anyone by phone most days, the only snowball’s chance in hell is to call at 8:30 am and hope you’re “lucky” enough to be placed in the 1+ hour hold cue. UGH

If that weren’t enough the first payment was supposed to direct deposit on Jan.6th. Well it’s the 8th and still nothin. I’ve spent my entire working life paying into this scheme and now when I finally need it I’m left out in the proverbial cold. Looks like I have to call yet again tomorrow at 8:30 am and hope I get lucky enough to be placed in the 1+hour hold cue. I’m beginning to think that Parliament Hill ISIS freak was onto something.

So what is next I want to do? I do not want to pay any EI. I get my EI descion made. I was file my tax return for $50K per year. and Service Canada, think my income should be 21K. WOO Nice Job!
